Kraken Launches Jersey Mike’s Tokenized IPO Access to Global Retail Investors
Crypto exchange Kraken opens retail access to Jersey Mike's initial public offering, offering US customers direct IPO allocations and global users tokenized shares backed by underlying stock as the tokenized equities sector accelerates.
Kraken Opens Jersey Mike’s IPO to Global Retail Investors
Crypto exchange Kraken has launched retail access to the anticipated Jersey Mike’s initial public offering, democratizing participation in the sandwich chain’s debut on public markets. Eligible US customers can now request allocations of book-entry shares at the IPO price, while customers in over 110 countries gain access through tokenized versions of the stock.
Jersey Mike’s, which operates more than 3,300 locations, is preparing to list on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker JMKE. According to the company’s IPO announcement, shares are expected to price between $21 and $25 each, opening the door for a new wave of retail participation in what has become an emerging trend within the crypto ecosystem.
Tokenized Shares Expand Market Access Beyond Borders
Global users can request JMKEx, a tokenized representation of Jersey Mike’s stock with underlying shares held in regulated custody. This tokenized structure enables capabilities unavailable through traditional brokers—shares can trade continuously on Kraken’s platform 24 hours a day, five days a week, while the underlying securities trade during standard US market hours. Tokenized holdings can be transferred across participating xStocks Alliance platforms, moved onchain, and integrated with decentralized finance applications, extending equity access beyond conventional brokerage constraints.
This approach demonstrates blockchain technology’s capacity to bring traditional assets to broader audiences. The tokenized format allows for interoperability between platforms and opens participation to geographic regions typically excluded from direct US equity offerings, significantly lowering traditional barriers to entry for retail investors worldwide.
Momentum Despite Lessons From SpaceX Rollout
Jersey Mike’s becomes the latest offering through Kraken’s tokenized IPO platform, following SpaceX’s public debut in June. The SpaceX campaign revealed both appetite and challenges in this emerging market segment. That offering attracted massive demand—allocations were oversubscribed more than fourfold—but several crypto platforms including Binance, Bybit, Blockchain.com, Bitget Wallet and MEXC ultimately canceled their campaigns after securing insufficient underlying shares to fulfill customer demand. SpaceX shares have since declined from their $135 IPO price to approximately $115.
Despite these setbacks, the tokenized equities sector continues expanding significantly. Market data from RWA.xyz shows the sector’s distributed value climbed from below $500 million in mid-2025 to approximately $1.87 billion, reflecting a 29.4% increase over the past 30 days. These figures underscore sustained investor interest and confidence in the sector despite supply constraints encountered during earlier rollouts.
The shift toward tokenized equities signals growing institutional acceptance of blockchain infrastructure for mainstream financial products. As the sector demonstrates its ability to maintain continuous 24/5 trading and seamless interoperability between platforms, tokenized traditional assets could accelerate broader crypto adoption and strengthen the case for blockchain-based settlement in global finance.
