Bridge Joins European Regulatory Framework

Bridge Building, the Luxembourg-based entity behind Stripe’s stablecoin infrastructure platform, has officially registered under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) following approval from Luxembourg’s financial regulator. This registration positions Bridge among an expanding cohort of crypto-asset service providers that have achieved compliance with the EU’s comprehensive digital-asset framework.

The company successfully obtained both a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization and an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, as announced earlier in July. These regulatory clearances enable Bridge to operate within the EU’s harmonized framework for stablecoin issuance and cryptocurrency-related services.

Regulated Infrastructure for EU Businesses

According to ESMA, as reported by Cointelegraph, Bridge’s inclusion raises the total number of MiCA-authorized electronic money token (EMT) issuers in the European register to 42. Bridge’s leadership emphasized that these regulatory approvals empower EU-based businesses to develop stablecoin solutions and payment infrastructure within a compliant, transparent framework.

Mai Leduc Blount, Bridge’s Head of Product, highlighted that the regulatory clearances enable organizations across the EU to innovate in stablecoin and payment products while operating under established compliance standards. The approvals signal a significant shift in how the crypto industry engages with institutional regulatory requirements, particularly as major financial platforms like Stripe recognize the value of regulated participation in digital assets.

Institutional Adoption Accelerates Across Europe

Bridge’s registration represents part of a broader wave of institutional adoption within the EU’s MiCA framework. According to ESMA’s latest update, three additional Crypto-Asset Service Providers from Germany—Volksbank Die Gestalterbank, VBU Volksbank im Unterland, and VR-Bank Erding—have also secured authorization, bringing the total number of authorized CASPs in the European register to 324.

This expansion demonstrates growing momentum among traditional financial institutions recognizing the importance of participating within regulated crypto-asset infrastructure. The increasing number of compliant providers suggests Europe is positioning itself as a jurisdiction where traditional finance and blockchain-based services can coexist within a clear regulatory framework, establishing consumer protections and market oversight standards.
