MoonPay Integrates Cash App Pay to Expand Cryptocurrency Access for US Customers
MoonPay has integrated Cash App Pay, enabling millions of US users to purchase cryptocurrencies directly from their Cash App balances through MoonPay's platform and partner wallets.
Cash App Pay Enables Seamless Cryptocurrency Purchases
MoonPay, a leading cryptocurrency payments platform, has announced the integration of Cash App Pay as a funding method for cryptocurrency purchases, a move designed to streamline access to digital assets for millions of American consumers. The integration, disclosed to Cointelegraph on Tuesday, permits eligible US customers to fund their cryptocurrency transactions directly using Cash App balances without requiring account switching or additional authentication.
The payment method is now operational through MoonPay’s proprietary checkout system and with a comprehensive list of partner platforms serving the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Partners benefiting from this integration include major digital wallet providers such as Trust Wallet, Bitcoin.com, MetaMask, and hardware wallet platform Ledger, alongside cryptocurrency trading and payment infrastructure companies including Moonshot, BitPay, Uniswap, Tangem, LOBSTR, and Edge.
MoonPay co-founder and CEO Ivan Soto-Wright emphasized the consumer appeal of this development, underscoring that Cash App has established itself as a critical financial management tool for tens of millions of Americans, and that enabling these users to access cryptocurrency through an already-trusted interface represents a natural extension of their existing financial relationships.
Accelerating Mainstream Payment Integration
MoonPay’s expansion of payment method accessibility reflects a deliberate strategy to lower barriers for cryptocurrency adoption among traditional finance users. The company introduced PayPal as a funding source in 2024 and subsequently added Venmo to its payment infrastructure. Cash App Pay extends this progression, enabling access to a wider spectrum of digital assets beyond the Bitcoin purchase and sale capabilities that Cash App itself provides to its user base.
Block’s Cash App platform reported 59 million active monthly users as of June, according to the company’s second-quarter investor documentation. This user base represents substantial opportunity for cryptocurrency market penetration among consumers already conducting financial transactions through digital payment infrastructure.
MoonPay’s Strategic Growth Throughout 2026
Throughout this year, MoonPay has pursued transformative acquisitions aimed at diversifying beyond its traditional fiat-to-cryptocurrency onramp model. The company acquired DFlow, a Solana blockchain trading infrastructure provider, in May, following its April acquisition of Sodot, a cryptocurrency security specialist. In July, the company completed its acquisition of Glide, a cross-chain blockchain infrastructure firm, and launched PayBox, a self-custodial vault enabling users of ChatGPT and Claude to authorize and execute cryptocurrency transactions while maintaining ownership of their digital assets.
From a regulatory standpoint, MoonPay operates under substantial compliance frameworks. The company maintains a BitLicense and Limited Purpose Trust Charter granted by the New York State Department of Financial Services, and holds authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation in the Netherlands. This expansion of mainstream payment integration into cryptocurrency purchasing represents a significant step toward normalizing digital asset adoption.
