Technical Setup Suggests Renewed Momentum

Well-known crypto trader DonAlt indicated that Bitcoin appears positioned for another significant advance, noting the asset’s resilience despite an abrupt intraday selloff that pressured prices downward. The digital currency experienced approximately 6% of downside volatility following hawkish commentary from Federal Reserve governor Kevin Warsh, yet buyers stepped in to prevent any sustained weakness. Bitcoin stabilized near $77,100 and subsequently recovered toward $78,000, having briefly climbed to the $81,000 range earlier in August.

The recovery underscores ongoing buyer conviction at support levels, with the cryptocurrency benefiting from an exceptionally robust August following a powerful third-quarter rebound. Prices have risen sharply from approximately $64,700 seen earlier in the month, demonstrating substantial upside momentum entering the autumn season.

Corporate and Whale Demand Remains Elevated

Business intelligence company MicroStrategy, guided by Michael Saylor, continued its Bitcoin accumulation strategy by purchasing roughly 4,603 BTC valued near $369.7 million between August 24 and 30 at an average price of $80,318 per coin. The acquisition demonstrates unwavering institutional confidence despite the month’s considerable price volatility, further solidifying the firm’s position as a significant corporate Bitcoin holder.

Large-holder activity has remained pronounced throughout the period, with Whale Alert detecting a transfer of 1,922 Bitcoin worth approximately $149.7 million between unidentified wallets. Though such significant movements can reflect custody adjustments, internal repositioning, or wallet changes rather than directional market bias, they nonetheless indicate active engagement from major investors.

Bullish Quarterly Returns Tempered by Macroeconomic Concerns

Bitcoin delivered exceptional third-quarter performance, returning roughly 32.48%—substantially outpacing the historical average third-quarter return of 7.94%. This strong showing marks a dramatic reversal from the preceding two quarters, which posted a 22.2% loss in Q1 and a 14.09% decline in Q2.

Nonetheless, skepticism persists among certain analysts. Experienced market observer Mike McGlone has raised concerns about persistent macroeconomic headwinds, citing Federal Reserve policy, competitive pressures within cryptocurrency markets, and Bitcoin’s increasing correlation with traditional stock indexes as ongoing risks. According to his assessment, the $80,000-$81,000 zone represents a pivotal technical test for maintaining upward momentum.

Bitcoin’s combination of institutional buying and technical strength could provide positive momentum across the broader cryptocurrency market.
