SHIB Eyes Breakout While XRP Faces Critical Recovery Test Amid Bitcoin Weakness
Three major cryptocurrencies navigate key technical levels as the market grapples with resistance and uncertainty.
SHIB’s Momentum Challenge
Shiba Inu has staged a notable recovery from recent lows, breaking above key short-term moving averages and demonstrating renewed buying interest. The meme coin is now contending with a significant technical hurdle—the 100-day exponential moving average, currently positioned at the $0.00000500 level. This barrier has repeatedly capped bullish advances throughout the recent decline.
The recent rally has been supported by a marked surge in trading volume, with the daily chart showing one of the strongest candles in recent weeks. However, momentum has begun to cool, with the Relative Strength Index retreating from overbought extremes toward the high 50s, suggesting that excessive bullish enthusiasm has been absorbed without triggering a major sell-off. The technical picture is improving compared to previous bounce attempts. SHIB is now trading above both its 26-day and 50-day exponential moving averages, which are beginning to flatten—a constructive development.
The critical question is whether buying momentum can sustain through a daily close above the 100-day EMA. Such a breakout would position SHIB above all shorter-term moving averages and represent a meaningful shift toward a more constructive market structure. Sustained volume will be essential to achieving this breakthrough, though follow-through buying has been inconsistent. Failure at current levels would likely push the asset back toward the 50-day EMA, which now serves as the first major support.
XRP’s Recovery at Crossroads
XRP faces a similar critical juncture, rising from support around the $1.00 level but now struggling beneath the 50-day and 100-day exponential moving averages clustered near $1.09-$1.10. The asset’s recovery attempt initially appeared encouraging, marked by volume confirmation and formation of a small ascending triangle pattern. However, momentum has stalled as it approaches these crucial moving averages.
Momentum indicators reveal hesitation rather than conviction. The Relative Strength Index sits around the neutral 45-46 range—considerably short of the bullish threshold needed to confirm strength. Unlike several other major cryptocurrencies, XRP has not yet generated sufficient momentum to push the RSI above 50. The 200-day exponential moving average remains significantly higher at $1.40, still sloping downward and reflecting persistent seller dominance in the larger trend.
A decisive daily close above the $1.10 resistance zone would substantially improve XRP’s technical outlook and potentially attract additional buying interest toward the 200-day EMA. Conversely, failure would risk a retreat toward the psychological $1.00 support level, invalidating much of the recent recovery progress.
Bitcoin Struggles to Gain Traction
Meanwhile, Bitcoin is encountering renewed weakness as its recovery effort loses momentum. Currently trading around $63,000, the world’s largest cryptocurrency is caught between close support and resistance levels, establishing neither a convincing bullish nor bearish trend. The asset has been unable to sustain its position above the 50-day exponential moving average as sellers regain control.
These technical battles across major cryptocurrencies will likely determine whether the market can establish sustainable recovery momentum or slip back into broader weakness. For XRP holders particularly, success at current resistance levels could signal the beginning of a meaningful recovery cycle.
