Bitcoin Spot ETFs Post Strongest Day in Three Months

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds experienced a notable surge in capital inflows on Thursday, attracting approximately $606 million in a single trading session—the largest amount since early May. This robust performance marked the fourth consecutive session to record net positive flows, signaling strengthening institutional appetite for regulated Bitcoin exposure through the ETF market structure.

BlackRock’s Market Dominance Intensifies

BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF, known as IBIT, captured the lion’s share of Thursday’s inflows, pulling in roughly $503 million and representing 83% of all capital entering Bitcoin ETF products. This percentage surge from the 55% share recorded the previous day underscores the $15 trillion asset manager’s commanding position within the rapidly consolidating ETF space. Other significant participants included Fidelity’s FBTC fund, which received approximately $65 million, while Bitwise’s BITB and the Ark/21Shares collaboration secured $26.4 million and $12.2 million respectively. VanEck’s HODL product bucked the positive trend, posting outflows of roughly $3.6 million.

Over the four-day rally period, IBIT alone attracted approximately $1.09 billion of the roughly $1.61 billion in cumulative Bitcoin ETF inflows. Through August 20, the category has accumulated $2.07 billion in net flows—surpassing April’s $1.97 billion to establish 2026’s strongest month to date, with seven trading days remaining on the calendar.

Ethereum, XRP, and Solana Gain Traction

The positive momentum extended into altcoin-focused exchange-traded products. Ethereum ETF products recorded nearly $221 million in Thursday inflows, representing their largest single-day capital influx since October 2025 and their fourth consecutive positive session. More notably for the cryptocurrency ecosystem beyond Bitcoin, smaller digital assets demonstrated significant relative strength. XRP-focused funds attracted $13 million in capital, a dramatic jump from $2.35 million on Wednesday, while Solana ETFs recorded $15 million against $2.10 million the previous session. Remarkably, every tracked digital asset category posted positive net inflows, indicating broad-based institutional interest across the cryptographic asset universe.

The disparity in absolute flows remains striking, with Bitcoin ETF inflows exceeding XRP flows by approximately 47 to 1 on Thursday, compared to roughly 220 to 1 on Wednesday. This shift suggests a modest rebalancing toward smaller-cap digital assets, though Bitcoin’s gravitational pull continues to dominate institutional capital allocation. The strength in XRP and other altcoin ETFs reflects growing investor diversification beyond Bitcoin’s dominance, even as the broader market consolidates, exemplified by Hashdex’s recent liquidation of its DEFI Bitcoin fund—the first U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF to face closure.

The surge in institutional capital flowing through regulated ETF channels—including meaningful inflows to XRP products—signals the cryptocurrency market’s accelerating normalization within traditional financial systems.
