Caversaccio Brings Security Expertise to Foundation Leadership

According to the Ethereum Foundation, as reported by Cointelegraph, Pascal Caversaccio, widely recognized in crypto circles as “pcaversaccio,” has joined the Ethereum Foundation’s board for an initial one-year term served on a voluntary basis. Caversaccio is the co-founder and lead of SEAL 911, a cryptocurrency security response organization dedicated to incident response and threat mitigation across digital asset ecosystems. His appointment expands the board to four members, joining President Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, and Swiss counsel Patrick Storchenegger.

Caversaccio’s track record within the Ethereum community runs exceptionally deep. He is recognized as a longtime contributor to the protocol’s development and holds a position within the Foundation’s Silviculture Society, an informal advisory group centered on censorship resistance, decentralized open-source development, privacy, and security architecture. His intellectual contributions to privacy discourse include authorship of “The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto,” released in 2024, and “Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty,” published in 2025. These published works illustrate his philosophical alignment with privacy-first network design and decentralized systems architecture.

Privacy Becomes Non-Negotiable in Protocol Strategy

The appointment arrives as the Ethereum Foundation repositions privacy and security as central pillars of its organizational and protocol development strategy. In June, the Foundation publicly designated both privacy and security as “non-negotiable protocol guarantees,” a statement signaling that these properties must be embedded into the network’s fundamental architecture rather than treated as optional features added later.

The Foundation’s board functions as a “security council,” tasked with setting the organization’s overarching vision while ensuring that management decisions remain faithful to the Foundation’s core values and mission. As a registered Swiss foundation, the board also carries compliance and governance responsibilities. Under this expanded mandate, the Foundation’s protocol development team has committed to advancing privacy research into production implementations. Specific focus areas include layer-1 privacy solutions and post-quantum cryptographic security, ensuring Ethereum’s long-term resilience against both current threat vectors and emerging attack methods while maintaining user sovereignty.

Institutional Priority Signals Ecosystem Maturity

The elevation of privacy and security at the protocol level reflects a maturing cryptocurrency industry grappling with regulatory demands, security incidents, and user expectations for responsible innovation. As major blockchain networks prioritize these guarantees, they establish competitive standards across the broader sector, reinforcing institutional and retail confidence in decentralized systems. This dynamic demonstrates the crypto ecosystem’s capacity to evolve responsibly and adapt to emerging challenges.

Foundation-level commitment to privacy and security infrastructure strengthens the entire crypto ecosystem’s credibility and resilience against evolving threats.
