Cross-Chain Bridge Launches for XRPL and EVM Sidechain

The XRP Ledger has marked a significant advancement in blockchain interoperability by integrating with Axelar Network, enabling direct cross-chain asset transfers. Through the newly available Axelar App interface, both the XRP Ledger and its EVM Sidechain are now accessible for seamless asset movement across multiple blockchain networks. The integration initially supports a diverse array of tokens including XRP, SHx, USDf, SOIL, WETH, WBTC, mBTC, mTBILL, and mXRP, according to the XRP Ledger Foundation. The foundation emphasized that users can now execute cross-chain transactions and complete settlement on the XRP Ledger within seconds.

The cross-chain infrastructure addresses one of blockchain’s most persistent challenges: interoperability. By leveraging protocols like Axelar, digital assets can move securely between disparate blockchain networks, thereby expanding liquidity pools and broadening access to decentralized finance applications. This capability also enables developers to interact with and leverage assets across multiple chains without unnecessary complexity.

Ripple’s Expanding Focus on Tokenized Capital Markets

The cross-chain launch occurs amid Ripple’s broader strategic push into tokenized finance. The company recently invested in ZILO and Licuido to accelerate capital markets development on the XRP Ledger, as reported by the XRP Ledger Foundation. This expansion follows Aviva Investors’ decision to tokenize its U.S. Dollar Liquidity Fund directly on XRPL, demonstrating growing institutional confidence in the platform’s capabilities.

Ripple President Monica Long recently underscored that the industry has reached an inflection point, with financial institutions transitioning from experimental phases into production-ready deployments. Long indicated that Ripple intends to deliver a comprehensive infrastructure framework supporting the full lifecycle of tokenized asset utilization on the XRP Ledger.

Infrastructure and Developer Ecosystem Strengthening

Supporting these developments, the XRP Ledger Foundation announced a partnership with Ankr to expand geographically distributed node infrastructure for XRPL, enhancing network resilience and performance. Concurrently, the foundation is collaborating with VS1 Finance to develop an open-source reference application for lending functionality on XRPL, providing developers with standardized tools for building financial applications.

Meanwhile, the ecosystem prepares for the imminent xrpld 3.3.0 release. Notably, all dUNL validators have already completed their upgrades to XRPL 3.2.1, demonstrating high coordination within the validating community.
