XRP Struggles Near $1.03 as Technical Barriers Loom Over Recovery Path

XRP rebounds to $1.03 following a significant weekly decline, but multiple moving average barriers and weak momentum indicators suggest the bounce may prove temporary.

Price Action Meets Technical Resistance

XRP rallied to trade around $1.03 on Monday, recovering slightly from a week in which the token lost more than 5% of its value. However, this modest upswing masks a concerning technical picture. The token continues to trade below all three major exponential moving averages—sitting beneath the 50-day EMA at $1.10, the 100-day EMA at $1.18, and the 200-day EMA at $1.37. This positioning across short-, medium-, and long-term timeframes reflects broad-based weakness and establishes a substantial overhead resistance zone that any sustained rally would need to overcome.

Momentum Indicators Signal Continued Selling Pressure

Technical momentum metrics reinforce the bearish outlook despite Monday’s intraday recovery. The Relative Strength Index is hovering near 39, well below the neutral 50 midpoint, indicating that selling remains the dominant force in the market. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence indicator has turned negative, providing additional confirmation that bullish momentum has stalled. Together, these signals suggest that buyer enthusiasm remains limited and that any near-term rallies could quickly attract renewed selling interest, particularly as price approaches the overhead moving average resistance zones.

The psychological support level at $1.00 has emerged as XRP’s most immediate make-or-break threshold. This round-number level carries significance because traders often defend such areas, and a weekly close below $1.00 could accelerate downside pressure. Conversely, buyers successfully defending the $1.00 level would create space for consolidation and potentially open the door to another challenge of the 50-day EMA at $1.10.

Roadmap for Recovery Remains Steep

For XRP to reverse its short-term bearish trajectory, the token must clear multiple technical hurdles. The first critical test sits at the 50-day EMA around $1.10—a move that would require a gain of roughly 7% from current levels. If XRP breaks above $1.10 with conviction, traders would likely target the 100-day EMA at $1.18 as the next resistance zone. Breaking $1.18 would shift attention to the $1.30 horizontal resistance level. Each tier represents a potential profit-taking opportunity, meaning a sustained recovery will depend on strong inflows of buying demand and improving momentum indicators.

The 200-day EMA at $1.37 represents the most significant technical barrier. This long-term moving average serves as a key indicator of the broader trend, and reclaiming this level would signal a meaningful shift in XRP’s directional outlook. Beyond that, resistance exists near $1.90, though this target remains distant while the token trades below nearer obstacles.

For now, XRP remains caught between the near-term support at $1.00 and the resistance cluster stretching from $1.10 to $1.37. The path to recovery is clearly defined but technically challenging, requiring sustained buying pressure to overcome multiple moving-average barriers that have consistently capped upside attempts.
