South Korea’s Largest Exchange Upbit Integrates Ripple’s RLUSD Into XRP’s Strongest Market
Upbit, controlling 70% of South Korea's crypto market, has launched trading pairs for RLUSD, marking another major milestone for Ripple's regulated stablecoin.
Ripple’s regulated stablecoin achieved another major milestone as Upbit, South Korea’s preeminent cryptocurrency exchange commanding a dominant 70% market share, announced the integration of RLUSD. The listing represents a critical expansion into one of the most strategically important crypto markets globally, where XRP has established itself as a retail favorite among local traders.
Upbit rolled out three RLUSD trading pairs, enabling direct exchange against the Korean won (RLUSD/KRW), Bitcoin (RLUSD/BTC), and USDT (RLUSD/USDT). This multi-pair approach caters to the diverse trading preferences of Upbit’s substantial user base and positions RLUSD for meaningful adoption across different trader segments.
Accelerating Global Exchange Adoption
The Upbit integration builds on a series of significant platform listings since RLUSD’s highly publicized December 2024 launch. The stablecoin gained exchange support through Bitstamp and Kraken in January 2025. In April 2026, OKX added RLUSD to its offerings, further broadening the accessibility of Ripple’s regulated digital asset across multiple major trading venues and geographic regions.
Market Concentration and Volume Dynamics
Despite these growing platform integrations, trading activity for RLUSD remains concentrated among a core group of exchanges and liquidity venues. According to CoinGecko, Bullish has emerged as the dominant trading platform for RLUSD, commanding approximately 52% of global spot trading volume. This substantial share reflects activity across multiple Bullish pairs: XRP/RLUSD, RLUSD/USDC, ETH/RLUSD, and BTC/RLUSD.
Binance holds the second position as a major RLUSD venue, with its RLUSD/USDT pair generating roughly 16% of worldwide trading volume. The XRP/RLUSD pair on Bullish has emerged as the single most-traded RLUSD market by volume, underscoring strong cross-asset demand. This is followed by Binance’s RLUSD/USDT market, Bullish’s RLUSD/USDC offering, First Ledger’s RLUSD/XRP pool, and Sologenic’s XRP/RLUSD pair.
Tapping South Korea’s Proven XRP Strength
The Upbit listing carries particular strategic significance given South Korea’s established position as among the world’s strongest markets for the XRP token. The nation’s exchange landscape has consistently favored altcoin trading, with XRP gaining particular traction among Korean retail investors following its adoption surge during the 2017-2018 bull market cycle.
Trading infrastructure in South Korea reflects unique local preferences that distinguish the market from Western platforms. Korean exchanges predominantly offer KRW-denominated spot pairs rather than stablecoin pairings, reflecting retail investors’ preference to trade directly against the Korean won. This structural characteristic has made XRP/KRW one of the world’s deepest and most liquid XRP markets, providing exceptional pricing efficiency and execution quality.
Throughout 2025, XRP/KRW maintained its position as the most actively traded pair on Upbit, surpassing even the BTC/KRW pairing in overall volume. Historically, periods of heightened XRP dominance in Korean trading have coincided with pronounced market volatility, suggesting the market’s significance as a price discovery mechanism.
The integration of RLUSD into South Korea’s largest exchange reinforces Ripple’s institutional expansion while strengthening the infrastructure connecting the XRP ecosystem to one of crypto’s most robust retail markets.
