Ripple Accelerates RLUSD Expansion With Fresh 10 Million Token Minting
Ripple has minted another 10 million RLUSD stablecoins as institutional adoption accelerates, with the digital currency now exceeding 1.7 billion tokens in circulation and expanding across Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
Ripple has released another 10 million RLUSD stablecoins, reinforcing its commitment to establishing a globally accessible digital currency for institutional payments. The latest minting event took place on August 17 on the XRP Ledger, with on-chain data revealing the tokens were transferred via a dual-signature multisignature arrangement. The transaction incurred minimal fees of just 0.000405 XRP, exemplifying the cost advantages of conducting stablecoin operations on Ripple’s blockchain infrastructure.
This minting action reflects accelerating institutional adoption patterns. The RLUSD supply currently exceeds 1.711 billion tokens in active circulation. Market trading activity demonstrates sustained investor interest, with the asset recording approximately $58 million in trading volume during the most recent 24-hour period. Since its introduction in December 2024, RLUSD has experienced significant growth in market capitalization, establishing itself as a rapidly expanding component of Ripple’s broader institutional settlement ecosystem.
Building Institutional-Grade Infrastructure
Ripple has prioritized strengthening RLUSD’s compliance and operational framework through strategic partnerships. A July announcement detailed collaboration with Notabene, a compliance-focused platform provider. The partnership makes RLUSD available through Notabene Flow, a business-to-business payments platform tailored for stablecoin transactions. Additionally, both companies are investigating integration pathways for connecting Notabene’s transaction authorization and compliance verification systems with Ripple Payments, aiming to create seamless institutional workflows for regulated digital asset transfers.
Geographic Reach Expands
RLUSD’s international footprint has widened considerably. Japan emerged as a significant jurisdiction in June when the asset received regulatory approval from the Japan Financial Services Agency, becoming Japan’s first stablecoin operating under the nation’s newly established fourth category designation for electronic payment instruments. SBI VC Trade, a prominent Japanese cryptocurrency platform, integrated RLUSD availability on its VCTRADE ecosystem, enabling both institutional and retail market participants to access the stablecoin.
Ripple simultaneously strengthened its presence in the Türkiye market through partnerships with regional exchange operators BiLira, Bitexen, and Bitlo—arrangements designed to facilitate institutional access to RLUSD within Turkish financial channels.
Strategic Significance
These developments illustrate Ripple’s methodical approach to scaling RLUSD as a legitimate institutional payment solution. The combination of ongoing token issuance, compliance infrastructure partnerships, and targeted regional expansion indicates a comprehensive strategy to position RLUSD as a bridge currency for efficient cross-border settlements. Each successful market entry and infrastructure integration strengthens Ripple’s competitive positioning within the institutional digital currency sector.
For the XRP ecosystem, RLUSD’s expansion validates Ripple’s core thesis that the XRP Ledger can serve as infrastructure for regulated financial services. As institutional adoption of RLUSD accelerates, demand for XRP Ledger transaction capacity and network participation may intensify, potentially driving sustained long-term utility and value creation for the broader platform.
